There are a lot of variables and factors at work, integer scaling, hq scaling, overscan, etc. But, unfortunately, with the variety of systems, some systems have to be lower priority. I am also in process of updating some Cores, that may work more optimally with the crt filter. For cores that do not fare well with crt, simply run 4:3 mode for them.

So, in Any case, if screwy, you did not update properly:) I tested this out, and it has to be done this way:) So, you should have no trouble getting back in action. I prioritized Nintendo Systems, then got Sega Genesis plus GX working with it, and MAME 2003. Then.Ĭrt filter works for a majority of hmods just fine, with exception of prosystem, pcsx, picodrive, pce fast, for starters. If you update RetroArch, you must uninstall both RetroArch and crt filter, first. It is posted in my video, as well as in the readme:) You have to reinstall crt filter after installing retroarch.

I intentionally installed RetroArch over top old RetroArch just to test this perimeter. This happens because you did not follow the proper procedure.

  • Run synchronize again to make sure the launch parameters have been added.
  • Update the start command in hakchi2 to something like this: /bin/nxengine /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-Z-EXQXQ/Doukutsu.exe (your path in CLV-Z-* may be different).
  • In your FTP server of choice, sync the "Data" folder from the unzipped Cave Story download to the folder in /usr/share/games/kachikachi/ (it will probably start with CLV-Z-*) - Note that I had to use BeyondCompare (free trial) for this, Filezilla kept disconnecting.
  • Synchronize games with the NES/Famicom Mini.

  • Install the module using the Modules menu item in Hakchi2.
  • Drag and drop the _km_nxengine_7_5_17.hmod to the user_mods folder in Hackchi2 using Windows Explorer.
  • Worked perfectly! As this is a bit different than a normal Cave Story install for Retroarch, I'd suggest putting these instructions somewhere:

I will update FBA, and a few other cores, as well:) I have not had one single crash in the updated ones I did.

The MSX core really stuck out, with the changes they made:) Older SNES 2010, had a tendency to sometimes have save issues, and games like Mario Kart, Star Fox, etc would crash. I did some comprehensive tests with the cores I updated, and sometimes changes aren't immediately noticeable. And, I would love to hopefully get the Turbografx-CD cores to properly point to cues, as they already do on PC:) I am planning on communicating with a few people involved in specific source files for a few cores, as I want to try to get MAME 2010 (bug where you cannot use MAME options, like in MAME 2003, possibly fixed).

Also, the changes helped make the PC RetroArch version of MSX better! But, they took the Mini NES version of the Emulator back a couple steps. In the case of MSX, they switched over to different dependencies, so the new source does not work with our current RetroArch.

All of these clean up the code so that it is more reliable, less buggy, games crash more minimally, and so on.Īs mentioned, you would really need to name a specific core, to truly have me point out some differences. General bug fixes, code optimizations, revisions. There are various Visual Basic, Assembly Languages, etc. Changes to how the source file dependencies work with libretro code, making them easier to update. Updates to the M68k code, which is basically the Motorola 68000 set of instructions that ran the Sega Genesis System. But, as far as Genesis Plus GX, as a simple example:) And, MAME 2010 did not yet exist as an HMOD, hehe. For starters, MAME 2003, has added System 32 Support. You would have to pick out a specific core for me to list even a few differences.
